We want to help the children who were born in a poor conditions, we want to help them get acess to knowledge.

During 1999 to 2000, Sierra Leone experienced a brutal and a nasty war that engulfed all region of the country and all section of the population. Between 1992 to 1996 more than 4500 children were drown in to the war as spies, porters, sex slaves, carriers and combatant for the Revolution United Front [RUF], the National Armey and the civil defense force [CDF]. In January 1999, the country experienced and unprecedented orgy of violence, destruction and untold human suffering. Close to fifty thousand [50,000] people were killed or maimed in the process and other three hundred thousand [300,000] persons were initially displace. The paradox of the brutal war was that children were it most vulnerable victims as well as some of it most vicious prosecutors. These three military groups use children who where 15 years and younger in combat and support roles in their war effort. They feed drugs to their underage combatants encouraged them to commit atrocities and deployed them in dangerous front line position.
After the war, there are Thousands of children who found themselves totally displace along the street of Freetown. 85% where orphans and 15% where single parent. Some manage to enrolled them selves in school by the small income their earning by Begging, Carrying loads for traders, sex working. Others engage in others jobs. Some of them have tried all the way to reach the peak but they unfortunately drop out of school in the Junior and senior secondary education. In April 5 ibrahim start up his every day class with 2 student who where school drop out. Now the number has grown up to 25.

STORIES OF CHILDREN

Sinneh N Sesay

I am Sinneh N. Sesay, I am 17 years old
I fought during the ten years war in my country. it was not my wish, I was forced, drugged and I was given gun. I didn't know what I was doing and i have no option. Either i do it and live or don't and die. see now they have destroy my future for something i do not deserve. i did not live my child hood life and i wonder if i can ever live it. I’m not even sure of what I’m going to be in the future. my future is lost. My future is the street. Everyone discriminate against me. They do not allow their children to come closer to me as they call me names like thief, trouble maker, Rebel. i just don't know how to express the way I feel.
Because i have to survive i go out early in the morning to carry heavy loads on my heads for market women from there houses to the market then they paid me. Mid day i go to the mini-restaurant and wash dishes, clean up their floor then i get food to eat. Late in the evening i carry loads on my head again to their houses. i have been use as cargo train to carry food stuff for money. Oh how i wish i can discover my families who I’m not sure are alive or dead. i don't even know here to find them. I’m calling the whole world to words me and my colleagues in street. I want to be a teacher in the future. Help make me a better future

V to so me prisilili, moral sem uživati droge in dobil sem puško. Nisem vedel, kaj delam in nisem imel izbire. Nikoli nisem imel otroštva in tega mi nihče ne more povrniti.
Opoldne grem v restavracijo in pomivam posodo, čistim tla in zato dobim v zameno hrano. Pomagajte mi priti do tega cilja.

LatifaThomos
I am Latifa Thomos, I am 15 years old. I lost my parent and I was left with no option because all my relatives tried to balance my responsibilities. I left school in grad 7 and have no one to give me food. Because of this I came out joining my friends in the street fighting for my survival. I was joined in to sex work by my friends because living was very heard. Prostitution work is what I’m doing for my living. It is not my wish and I want to quite what I am doing but how can I with little or no support in my present condition. In my country there is no free education. I want to go back to school. I want to be an Accountant in the future.

Latifa Thomas
Sem Latifa Thomas, stara sem 15 let. Svoje starše sem izgubila in nisem imela več nobenih možnosti, sorodniki me niso mogli preživljati.

I heard about the children of Sierra Leone one month ago. My school started an online project with children around the world - iEARN (http://iearn.org/) and among others there was the story of Ibrahim Kamara, a teacher who started a school for children who drop out of school.
We all had to describe our school, the conditions in it and his description was:
A. School information
1. Name and address of class and school
Empowering Children School No: 12c, Cemetery road, Congo town, Freetown.
2. Number of students in class and school
The school have 25 students. 11 student in grade 7 and 14 in grade 9
4. School emblem, colors or mascot
It is not a building and have no paint.
5. Type and number of computers
No Computers also but student contributes every Saturday to buy time on the cafes to do their computer practical.
6. School history
The school was found in April- 5- 2009 By Ibrahim A. Kamara To minimize the high level of illiteracy in the Congo town community.
I think the work that Ibrahim is doing is really amazing and I feel the need to help him. HIS CHILDREN HAVE THE RIGHT TO AT LEAST HAVE A SCHOOL WITH COMPUTERS, SO THAT THEY CAN HOPE FOR BETTER FUTURE, TO CONNECT WITH THE WORLD, TO SEE, THAT EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE, IF YOU BEALIVE AND WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

I also asked Ibrahim, what are the pricesef of computers and internet access in Sierra Leone like and I was surprised, because the prices are quite higher as in Slovenia. I see that as a major injustice, those children already have very little and they have to pay a lot more than we in developed countries. This is not right!
